Remark 14.29.17.DF533F76B4CEFor this example, the positive-density set $\{ f_*(t)>0\} $ has three components: the middle band and the two outer regions. The two solution forms have the same missing direction on each zero level, so $E_{\rm unif}=\{ f_*(t)>0\} $. The maximum and the minimum of the difference of the two potentials are attained on the two outer components, whose closures are disjoint, in accordance with 14.21.3. Although the closure of the middle component meets both outer closures, the extremal values do not propagate through the middle component.
